Toki Ōnewa
$180.00
Sold out
Smooth and polished on the face, with the beautiful natural surface of the cobble left uncarved on the back.
The Toki (Adze) was an essential tool used by our tūpuna Māori for woodworking tasks like felling trees, hollowing out waka (canoes), and building whare (buildings).
Every taonga has a kōrero.
This was carved to the remembrance that the seeds of any strength and expertise, come from places and people before you. There is no polished and sharpened toki cutting through the wood, without the round unassuming kohatu on the shore.
